Artemis: The Greek Goddess of Independence
Independence is the foundation of our work – for our staff, as well as the individuals we serve. Although humans naturally crave connection and community, we also have an innate desire for a personal sense of autonomy and freedom. That is, we each have an intrinsic need to be as self-reliant – and independent – as possible.
Artemis is fearless, strong, athletic, adventurous, youthful and quick-tempered. Artemises are drawn to environmentalism, animal and human rights. They are passionately concerned with the victimization of others and they can be rather merciless when bringing justice upon the abusers. One of the most important lessons we can exemplify from Artemis is developing compassion for all beings and learning to relate to others in a deeper way. It appeared that all she needed was her bow and arrows to roam free in the wilderness of life, but she never dismissed inter-dependence (not co-dependence!) as a weakness. Connecting to others makes us stronger, not weaker.
We chose the name Artemis because we see her in our staff. We can relate to her and for that, we are very thankful. After all, these are the qualities that brought us to you. When we began our search for a company name, we looked up many things. And one thing kept coming up over and over again: the word “independence.” Independence is the foundation of our work. Not only is gaining independence our primary goal in providing our services, but it is our desire to help our staff attain more independence, as well.

We strive to ensure our staff achieve:
- Professional independence – By providing training opportunities that they choose, based on their unique set of professional outcomes.
- Financial independence – Through compensating our staff with competitive wages and for all expenses incurred while working, as well as through the opportunity for career growth.
Oh, and let’s not forget the pampering! We constantly remind our staff that they need to first take care of themselves if they intend to take care of others.
So, you see, it was her title that led us to her and her heart and soul that made the connection. Our hope is to make that connection with you!!
