Internship Program

Job Description

The Internship program will allow current undergraduate students to immerse themselves in the daily operations of Artemis Supports.  They will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the field of direct support care for those with an Intellectual Disability and/or Autism and how the regulations drive our service delivery.  The Intern will gain experience in the field by shadowing others and by providing 1:1 support independently.  The Intern will also be assigned a project based on their interest and our needs.  The CEO will work with each Intern prior to beginning to determine what would be the best fit given their specific skill set and career goals.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Complete and demonstrate understanding of the initial onboarding trainings which touch on a wide array of relevant topics
  • Shadow current direct care staff as they work 1:1 with our Individuals
  • Work directly and independently with at least one Individual.
  • Complete one project that will be determined prior to beginning.  Projects will be designed based on skills and interest of the Intern as well as the needs of the organization.  Projects could include, but are not limited to:
    • Human Resources - Primarily Recruitment but other projects could be available as well
    • Psychology - Co-occurring diagnoses are very common.  Insight into the area of Mental health is extremely beneficial as we support our  Individuals in getting the help that they need and deserve; Psychological Safety in the Workplace
    • Sociology - Deeper understanding of regulatory guidelines - Advocacy
    • Business Management - We are still a young company.  We face many obstacles that exist in the field as a whole.  We need creative minds that will be able to navigate and plan for growth with rates that we don’t control and typically do not match the state of the economy
    • Entrepreneurship - This speaks for itself - We are also planning to open a second business that would be a storefront at our current location
    • Finance - Work directly with our Director of Finance
    • Marketing - Website Design, promotional materials, etc.  We market to potential employees
    • Organizational Leadership - Organizational Structure, Psychological Safety in the Workplace
    • Peace and Justice Studies - Advocacy
    • Health Science - Direct Care; Public Policy
    • Public Relations - Networking
    • Public Policy - This would depend on what is happening at the time within our industry.  This would relate to regulations that might affect our Individuals in a negative way and advocating for policy that would meet their needs
    • Behavior Supports - Direct Observation, Introduction to Functional Behavior Assessments as provided by the Office of Developmental Programs

Education/Experience:

  • Current undergraduate student of one of the disciplines listed above
  • Subject to clean criminal record search
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn a variety of software applications and conduct thorough internet searches identifying accurate and helpful information as requested
  • Willingness to develop excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to develop excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
